First half of the year, the transportation economy

According to the traffic economic operation of the first half of 2013 announced by the Ministry of Transport, the growth rate of railway passenger traffic increased by 6.7 percentage points over the same period of last year, and the passenger traffic volume of civil aviation increased by 10.5%, while the growth rate of road passenger traffic dropped by 3.3 percentage points.

According to reports, the total passenger traffic (railway, highway, waterway) and passenger turnover of the entire society were 19.55 billion person-times and 148.13 billion person-km, which was an increase of 5.6% and 6.4% respectively. The total social freight volume (railway, highways, waterways, civil aviation) and cargo turnover were 20.88 billion tons and 8,436.9 billion tons kilometers respectively, an increase of 9.6% and 3.8% year-on-year.

The Ministry of Transport stated that the investment in highway water transportation in the first half of this year has recovered and the structure has continued to be optimized. The investment in fixed assets completed was 599.6 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 9.2% (down 6.2% over the same period of last year). The investment in ordinary highways increased, and the investment in the transformation of the provincial highways and rural roads increased by 21.7% and 14.7%, respectively. The construction of inland water transport continued to accelerate development, and the investment for completion was increased by 18.0%. The amount of investment completed in the construction of highways in the western region was significantly higher than that in the eastern and central regions.

In the transformation and development and improvement of people's livelihood also achieved results. The Ministry of Transport also issued the "Guidelines for Promoting the Healthy Development of the Logistics Industry in the Transportation Industry," and actively promoted the construction of a national platform for public information sharing of transportation and logistics. The data shows that in the first half of the year express logistics continued to maintain a rapid growth. 3.84 billion pieces of express delivery services were completed, an increase of 60.6% year-on-year; completed business revenue was 62.98 billion yuan, an increase of 34.5%.

In addition, in the first half of the year, the number of water traffic accidents and deaths and deaths of transport ships across the country fell by 0.4% and 10.7% year-on-year. The rescue success rate of search and rescue personnel on sea (water) is 97.4%. The number of production safety accidents and deaths caused by the construction of transportation projects dropped by 20.8% and 56.1% respectively. The number of fatal accidents and fatalities in the road transport industry above the level dropped by 39.8% and 40.0%, respectively.

Regarding the priorities for the second half of the year, the Ministry of Transport stated that it will ensure the realization of the goals of the year's transportation work in accordance with the unified arrangements of the Party Central Committee and the State Council.
